Villach City Wall and Bastion Tower

Well-preserved pieces of the old fortification wall.

The city wall, whose construction probably began at the end of the 12th century, with its defensive towers and bastion towers as well as the city moat in front of it, protected Villach's residents from enemy attacks.

Widmanngasse flows upwards into the
Hans-Gasser-Platz, which has a monument
by the Austrian sculptor Gasser and
