Already in 1950, 13 years before the Elysée Treaty, the town of Breisach set a trend-setting peace sign with its European sculpture. Solemnly unveiled on 9 July 2000, she pointed to the importance of the European vote in 1950. The survey, "What do you think about the merger of all European peoples into a European federal state?" Answered the citizens of Münsterstadt in the largely still war-torn and rebuilding Breisach pleasing positive: With the Europabrunnen at the marketplace, a European flag and the "European light" On the Eckartsberg and the European sculpture on the Münsterplatz, the European project was to be artistically visible and supported artistically in the public space.
The study of H.G. Wunderlich from 1970 "Where the bull carried Europa", which many Greeks in the palace of King Minos in Knossos at that time busy, has to be rethought: Did not God Zeus in bull shape, the Princess Europe not to Crete but brought to Breisach? Individual heads above the bull sculpture seem to be intensely occupied with this myth and its contradictions.

One of the top photo spots in Breisach is the artwork “Europe reaches for the stars”. The sculpture by the Breisach artist Helmut Lutz is located on the Münsterberg and is also very popular with children.
