Built in 1479 as part of the fortifications for Ratingen's city center, the Trinsenturm has served as a residence, gallery, and museum throughout its history. It was even slated for demolition at one point.

August 2021: "Our tour begins in a classic fashion, taking us through the lively pedestrian zone and the sometimes picturesque Ratingen city center; past the Trinsen Tower, where I ran an art gallery with some friends in the 1980s."

Today, the tower houses the Ratingen Toy Museum. Right next door, a futuristic-looking children's playground is a surprising sight.
