The old synagogue is hidden in the inner courtyard in Smetana Park number 5 and can therefore easily be missed during a city tour. Nevertheless, it is worth a visit. After a four-year reconstruction, you can see a beautifully restored multi-armed chandelier and a clock in addition to a rich painting of the interior. The so-called Schameshaus (administrator of the synagogue), which can be used as a background during various events, has also been renewed.

The Old Synagogue is the oldest surviving synagogue in Pilsen. It only served the liturgical purpose until 1893, when the newly built Great Synagogue began to be used for Jewish services. After that, she was alienated to a camp. This is one of the reasons why the building hidden near the historic city center survived the Holocaust and is still there today.
