The spa town of Bad Karlshafen is located at the mouth of the Diemel and Weser. The cozy town with its baroque houses was founded by Landgrave Karl von Hessen-Kassel in 1699 as a settlement for French Huguenots who had fled. The old harbor basin with the distinctive white warehouse was reconnected to the Weser. Since spring 2019, travelers have again been able to get to the city via the Weser in proper style.

Bad Karlshafen is always worth a visit. The closed baroque cityscape with the harbor is something special. However, it is only really busy in summer when the weather is nice.

Bad Karlshafen offers a wonderful city center in the baroque style around an old harbor basin. Unfortunately, monument protection failed a bit at the lock to the Weser.
