The Venus figurines from Petersfels are several Stone Age representations of the female body. The figurines mostly consist of gagat. The Petersfels is a cave with a forecourt in the Brudertal near Engen, Baden-Württemberg. The figurines were excavated by Eduard Peters and Volker Toepfer in 1927–1932 and by Gerd Albrecht in 1974–1976 and 1978. [1] The age of the figurines is given as 15,000 to 11500 years; they come from the Magdalenian. The figurines are between 1.5 and 4 cm long. Most of them are in the museums of Freiburg im Breisgau and Engen. The largest of these figures is also called Venus von Engen.
