The substructure of the mill (1834) is an almost square trestle, hence the name. Originally it was in Hoheneggelsen (Lower Saxony), in 1933 it was moved to the outskirts of Ballstädt. It was still in operation for the production of animal feed until 1960. Today the post mill is a protected cultural monument of the district of Gotha. Its four wings are striking, two with full blinds and two with doors. The miller's room was housed in its bay window. The Ballstädter Mühle was restored from 1982 to 1984. It is a protected cultural monument of the district of Gotha and is fully functional.

Thank you that something like this still exists
as a detour from the Nessetalbahn cycle path, worthwhile 😊

A post mill built in 1834, which can be visited every year on Mill Day. Furthermore, this place is a nice place for a little rest.
