This work of art is a reference to the ferry service across the Durme. 'The ferryman' by the Temse sculptor Valeer Peirsman. He made the statue in 2000 on behalf of the municipal council and Tourism Temse. The monument represents the legendary ferryman Cyriel Van Bogaert alias 'den Toeter', a ferryman who was a monument himself and lived from 1905 to 1977.
