Invernales del Texu

The Invernales del Texu, which belong to Sotres, appear on the path at the beginning of the route that leads to the Urriellu refuge, just below the track that goes up to Áliva. A charming semi-abandoned town encased in the valley.

Invernales del Texu is a collection of crumbling buildings that has the feeling of an abandoned village. As you walk through, it has a mystical if a little eerie atmosphere.

The buildings were built by shepherds to keep cattle over winter. Sometimes, the shepherds themselves would take refuge in the buildings if unexpected bad weather set in fast. Some of the buildings are unusable these days but some are still in use by farmers today.
