Frauenaurach is a district of the city of Erlangen and covers an area of 5.49 km². It is located seven kilometers southwest of the city center of Erlangen in the valley of the Middle Aurach.

The name of the district goes back to the Aurach and a nunnery, donated by Herdegen von Gründlach in 1267 and occupied by the Dominican order via Engelthal Abbey in 1271. (Women plus ahd. Meadow = meadow and meadow = river, stream) [1]

The community had a total of 3387 inhabitants in 1972. On July 1, 1972 it was incorporated into the city of Erlangen as part of the reform of the municipal area.
