View of Rehetobel village and the surrounding mountains

Rehetobel (Alemannic Rechtobel) is a political municipality in the Vorderland of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland. The name Rehetobel appears in documents relatively late compared to the communities in the area, in 1463 in a foundation charter of the church in Trogen. The document mentions properties that border on the forest, the Reh Tobel and the Troger Tobel. Another property on the Nasen also borders on the Reh Tobel. Rehetobel therefore originally referred only to the forest ravine below the Rechberg, the Moosbachtobel.

Cute little town! There is a bus stop for heading to St. Gallen as well as a small supermarket.

Good starting point for various hikes. E.g. over the quays to Heiden.
