On the Eggen-Höhenweg

On the Eggen-Höhenweg you can even see the Black Forest, Urschweiz and Vorarlberg when the visibility is good. Here one lookout point follows the next: the Schäflisegg, Kuenzenegg, Hüslersegg, Waldegg and Üsseregg with a wonderful view of the Appenzell hills and the Alpstein massif.

On this section of the Eggen-Höhenweg you can enjoy wonderful views of the Alpstein and the meadow around the path invites you to picnic and linger.

THE VARIED CLASSIC FOR EVERY SEASON
The Eggen-Höhenweg is a true hiking classic. At the beginning, you climb briefly but steeply from the village of Teufen up to Schäflisegg. On this section, a visit to A.Vogel's herb garden, which is located above the village of Teufen, right on the path, is highly recommended. From now on you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Säntis and the other side of Lake Constance during the entire hike. On the stretch from the A.Vogel herb garden to the Erlebnis-Waldegg you will find panels with information on local herbs. After just under an hour, the Waldegg adventure restaurant guarantees a varied break. The hike continues via Oberhorst to the historic Vögelinsegg. The nearby Appenzeller Bahnen stop enables a comfortable return journey.

The Eggerhöheweg runs over four hills: Waldegg, Kuenzenegg, Hüsleregg, Schäflisegg.
Teufen and Speicher are in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, as is the entire high-altitude trail except for the border stone, which lies to the north of the trail. The areas north of the hike are border areas of the canton of St. Gallen.
