The spring was initially called Moritzquelle (Moritz Spring) after Pastor Moritz Martin, who stayed here as a spa guest and was committed to the further development of the spa. Later, it became Sophienquelle (Sophien Spring) after Sophia of Saxony, the youngest daughter of King John of Saxony, who lived only 21 years.
