Beautifully designed "small wine gate" just before the end of the Pfälzer Weinsteige. Here you can remember some places along the wine route and the hiking trail.

The Small Wine Gate and the towns on the Wine Route, each of which is symbolically represented by a vine in the adjacent vineyard, are located on Alfred-Wasner Platz.
This was built in honor of Mr. Alfred Wasner (1931-2006), pastor of the Prot. Parish of Silent-Rechtenbach (1959-1994) because of his services to the first wine trail.
The Small Wine Gate commemorates the opening of the German Wine Route on October 19, 1935. At that time, a wooden gate was built to celebrate, but it fell victim to a storm.
In 1934 and 1935, viticulture in the region was in ruins. The large harvests found no market, not least because of the ban on Jewish wine merchants. Solutions were sought to stimulate wine sales and so in the early summer of 1935, Gauleiter Josef Bürckel met with some “party comrades” and Philipp Cuntz in the “Zum bayerischen Jäger” inn (today Weinhof Scheu). Bürckel had the idea of connecting 35 wine towns between Silent in the south and Bockenheim in the north along the ridge of the Haardt Mountains with a transport route of around 80 km in length. In the autumn of the same year, the German Wine Route was launched as Germany's first wine tourism route, combined with a bundle of advertising measures including mandatory wine sponsorships.

Beautiful place to enjoy a picnic on the appropriate benches and distant view
