At the lock stood until 1807 the Pfisterturm. This former watchtower was part of the old city wall.

The tower itself has not existed since 1807. It was a watchtower between the suburb of Bruch and Wissembourg.

The tower is no longer there Instead, you will find here a mixture of dam and city wall.

The Pfisterturm was a checkpoint on the city wall with a passage between the old town and the suburb Bruch.

Even if the Pfisterturm is no longer there, the lock is very beautiful and you can rest and relax by the water

Next to the Pfisterturm stood the "Wolfsturm" - together they framed the miller's gate (Porte des meuniers) (and were destroyed at the same time).
The arches over the Lauter used to be equipped with locks to regulate the flow of the river and the rafting of wood. One of these old locks can still be admired here.
