Hiking

The Moerkuilen is a peat pond in the Dommel Valley. Here you'll find various species of water lilies, pondweed, snakeweed, and sedges. This pond formed in a depression of peat soil that was excavated for peat extraction, hence the name "veenplas" (peat pond). This peat pond, rich in fish, attracts many birds. A swamp forest has developed around the pond, bordered by overgrown river dunes. There is a diverse flora, including common cycad and common cycad.

Near Lieshoutsedijk 34, there is a parking lot where a beautiful walking trail begins that leads through the Moerkuilen and Dommel meadows.
