Best Hikes to Former Barfüßer Monastery

Tips

  • The building is empty, but there is a lot of construction going on here

  • The medieval ensemble of the former barefoot monastery, a monastery of the Franciscan order, is of historical importance and is a listed building.
The building with the turret is the Seigerhaus, further back the cloister building with the brewhouse can be seen. Behind it is a disused quarry.
The monastery was dissolved in 1536.
From 1979 to 1990 the Sektkellerei Schloss Dryburg produced their "Chalet Frederic" in the monastery rooms
The site and the building stock are currently fallow. A change of use is planned, but unfortunately still uncertain.
