    Hiking

In 1894 the Hamburg Damara and Namaqualand trading company had the Woermannhaus built. Designed by architect Friedrich Höft, the Damara Tower served as a water tower and navigation point for ships on the Woermann Line. The Damara Tower is open to the public and can be climbed. But it's only worth it when the weather is nice.

From the tower you have a beautiful panoramic view over the city. The few N $ for the climb are worthwhile.

The "Woermannhaus" was built by Friedrich Holt in 1894 for the Hamburg freight forwarder Adolph Woermann in the half-timbered architectural style. After it was used as a youth home from 1924 to 1972, the building was renovated until the end of 1976 after it was classified as an architectural monument in 1971.
Today it houses a library, a tourist information center and a gallery for Namibian artists.
