The Ostbahnhof (built between 1881 and 1884) is the largest of the three international stations in Budapest. The 19th century building has an imposing front facade with a huge elliptical arch. With a size of 93 meters and an 80-meter-long platform, the station impresses not only with its elegance, but also by its size and is therefore one of the largest railway stations in Budapest. The design of the building is based on the former Lehrter station in Berlin, which was also dominated by an oversized triumphal arch.
