In 1763, in the Zschonergrund below the Zschonermühle, the silver mine of Gabe Gottes Erbstolln was mocked as a self-inflicted bounty.

Hiking
Behind the Zschonermühle, the valley changes its character. A wide, comfortable path leads through it. The "Stille Zschone" flows calmly through an alluvial forest, the valley opens up, the slopes recede and meadows spread out. In 1763 attempts began to use the Zschonergrund for mining. One suspected gold and silver deposits here. Man-high corridors were driven 125 meters into the slope, but the official samples showed no occurrence of precious metal. Therefore, in 1899, the "mouth hole" was finally bricked up. Today the vernacular calls this place “robber's cave” or “silver mine”.
