Set on a hill above the River Darwen, Pleasington is a picturesque little village to the west of Blackburn. There are some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside, such as Hoghton Bottoms, with its viaduct and weir, and on the hills above Witton Country Park. The village's Roman Catholic church, Pleasington Priory, is a Grade I-listed building, while the 16th-century Pleasington Old Hall is Grade II-listed.
There are two pubs to choose from: the Railway and the Butlers Arms. The Railway serves classic pub grub, while the Butlers Arms is slightly more upmarket with a fine array of menu options.
