Built between 1816 and 1819, the Roman Catholic Pleasington Priory is a beautiful church comprising mixed Gothic styles. Described by the eminent architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner as 'an astonishing church', it is today a designated Grade-I listed building. The churchyard is notable for its war graves, with eight from the First World War and nine from the Second.

Pleasington village sits above the river Darwen to the West of Blackburn. It is worth taking a look at the Grade-1 listed Roman Catholic church, Pleasington Priory. There are two pubs in the village. The Railway arms is a traditional pub whereas the Butlers Arms is a more upmarket restaurant pub.
