Mount Famine stands at 473m above Chinley and Hayfield. It lies just north of the Pennine Bridleway trail. The name probably comes as a result of the enclosure acts in the late 18th century which parcelled up the land and left some farmers in this area with poor quality land.
On the plus side the views are great and there is a Bronze Age burial mound on the west side of the hill.
It's been owned by the National Trust since 2006.
