Bronze statue depicting painter Emile Claus (1849-1924), the most important representative of Impressionism and Luminism in Belgium. The statue is placed between two reliefs, each depicting one of his paintings: on the left "De Vlasoogst" and on the right "De Boomgaard". Sculpted by Yvonne Serruys (1873-1953) after a design by Oscar Van De Voorde (1871-1938). Posted on May 9, 1926.

Hiking

This sculpture depicts the painter Emile Claus (1849-1924), holding a palette. It was created by Yvonne Serruys. On either side of the artist are two of his works: "The Orchard" and "The Flax Garden." Early in his career, he was influenced by Renoir and Monet. He later became a leading figure of Impressionism in Belgium. The sculpture faces the botanical garden.
