Little is known about the building history of today's church, which received its final shape in the second half of the 18th century under Probst Ambrosius Mößmer von Rottenbuch. Directly below the parish church located on a hill in the middle of the village is a Lourdes grotto that is well worth seeing. It was built in 1908 from tufa limestone from the Ammer Gorge slightly to the north. However, the grotto is currently not accessible due to construction work.
