The old railway line from Hollfeld to Bayreuth was inaugurated in 1904 and was in operation until 1974. The original plans to extend the line via Scheßlitz to Bamberg were not realized.

There is now a beautiful cycle path here, which you can also use as a connecting section on your mountain bike.
