This Japanese castle was built by Shiba Yoshimune in 1532. However, only a small original part, large parts of which were later destroyed again. Unfortunately, the castle was completely destroyed in World War II, only three gates and three small towers remain. In 1959 the main tower, the smaller tower connected to it and the main gate were rebuilt. The symbol of the city can be seen twice on the main roof: two golden Kinshachi figures in the shape of a dolphin.

Nagoya also has a beautiful castle, but who wants to visit, must be there before 17 clock, which I did not manage, unfortunately.

Nagoya Castle was built in the early Edo period as the seat of one of the three branches of the ruling Tokugawa family, the Owari branch. It was one of the largest castles in the country and the castle town around it eventually grew into Japan's fourth largest city.

Most of the castle buildings were destroyed in the air raids of 1945, including the keep and the palace buildings. The current main tower is made of reinforced concrete and dates from 1959.

The main tower of the castle will be demolished from autumn 2019 and rebuilt true to the original by 2022.
