This is the mouth of the former Barbara slate pit in Trimbs.
The Barbara mine belonged to Salomon Oppenheim in 1890.
The Oppenheim mines Hasenloch in Hausen, Barbara in Trimbs and four other mines in Mayen were combined in 1893 to form the Moselschiefergesellschaft mbH.
