The late Romanesque church from the 13th century consists of a nave, transept and choir in the basement of the church tower, this is four-story and has a Welsche dome. The high altar is crowned by an equestrian statue of St. George. The old church has stood empty since the new church was built in 1974 and was restored until 2006. The Kirchgaden outside is a culturally and historically significant ensemble. The oldest alleys may date from the 15th century. When the state road was expanded in 1976, the church alleys on the street side were demolished, and various alleys in the area of the new sacristy were removed as early as the mid-1960s. There is therefore only half of the entire system left. Thanks to the initiative of the garden owners, this remaining area was retained.

Almost nothing reliable is known about the life of St. George, to whom the Diebach church was consecrated, but the veneration of his person goes back a long way to early Christianity. A martyr who is equated with George is said to have lived in the third century.
Well known and widespread, however, is the legend of St. George slaying the dragon, mostly he is depicted - on paintings or as a statue - as the conqueror of the monster, often as a knight on horseback.
The day of remembrance of the very popular George - he is among other things the patron saint of the English Kingdom - in the saints calendar is on April 23rd.
