The first big task was the renovation of the Waldensian house in Freudensteiner Straße 45/1. On Thursday, November 9th, 2000, the association became the owner of the building. The house owner, Mr. Werner Siegrist, and the board of directors of the citizens' association signed a corresponding agreement with the public notary Leo Bräuer in the premises of the land registry in Oberderdingen. Thereafter, the association receives the sole right to use the building for 75 years.

Waldenserhäusle

The house from 1864/65 is one of the oldest houses in Großvillars. Although the floor plan is probably not a pure Waldensian house, but rather a craftsman's house, it appeared to the citizens' association to be worthy of protection and preservation.

The Waldenserhäusle was completely renovated from 2000 onwards by committed association members and helpers, donors, supporters and sponsors. In 2005 the inauguration was celebrated; In 2007 it was recognized as an exemplary museum of local history by the Heimatkreis Administrative Region Karlsruhe e.V.
