Occupying the head of Great Langdale’s tributary Mickleden Valley, Rossett Pike is a superb little perch that’s right in the thick of Lakeland’s most mountainous region. However, many unwittingly bypass Rossett Pike, which is a shame, as it is such a marvellous viewpoint. This is because the summit is a slight detour from the main path that snakes up Rossett Gill on its way to legendary mountains like Bowfell and Scafell Pike.

High at the head of the Mickleden Valley, Rossett Pike offers excellent views down into Langdale and over Angle Tarn. It's a rocky summit that's often passed by runners on the Langdale Skyline or en route to Scafell, but it is included on the Joss Naylor Challenge.

Rossett Pike is a 2,136-foot (651 m) Wainwright that overlooks the popular Angle Tarn. From the summit you can see the Langdale Pikes and the bottom of the Langdale Valley and to the south west is the imposing bulk of Bow Fell. It's a great little mountain of the Southern Lake District.

Standing at the end of the Langdale Valley Rossett Pike is definitely worth a visit from the summit looking back along the valley you have view of Bowfell, Crinkle Craggs and the Pike o Blisco on the right and on the left you have the Pike of Sickle. Bring some butties to chomp on as you enjoy your view…. Don’t forgot them in the car like I did!
