The center was built in 2011–2015. It belongs to the Culture Zone, a new part of Katowice devoted to culture, located in former industrial areas. It has a direct connection with the Spodek Arena. The building of the International Congress Center was designed by the award-winning Jems Architekci architectural studio from Warsaw. The facility was built in post-industrial areas and its architecture refers to mining traditions.
