The large-leaved lime tree (Tilia platyphyllos) has served as a festival and dance venue for centuries. Its distinctive growth habit stems from the fact that its branches were trained to create a dance floor inside the tree, which is used for festivities during the summer months.

Mountain biking

One of two "operational" dancing linden trees in Thuringia, where people dance on a platform in the treetop. The other is in Effelder. There are more in Franconia around Bayreuth and there in Neudrossenfeld and Limmersdorf there are even two dancing lime tree museums.
