A parish church in Hohnstein was first mentioned in 1381. In the course of the Reformation introduced in the Duchy of Saxony-Wittenberg in 1539, the church became Evangelical-Lutheran. On September 22nd, 1724, the building was destroyed by a city fire. Reconstruction was planned in the same year. On May 1, 1725, reconstruction began on the foundations of the previous building according to plans by the Dresden council carpenter George Bähr. The church was consecrated on October 4, 1728. The church tower was completed in 1730 and the altar was consecrated in 1736. In 1881 there was a major renovation in the style of historicism. From 1962 to 1967, the baroque version was exposed and reconstructed as part of a further renovation. In 2010 the building was renovated. Source Wikipedia
