Relatively even, not too steep and scenic climb from the Polenztal to the Hocksteinschänke. Section of the former "Großdeutschlandring". I prefer the descent in the Polenztal and back up here rather than the climb over the old steep curve of the race track. Relaxed uphill ride, as the cars have enough space to overtake thanks to the two-lane climb.
From the top, it is best to continue in the direction of Lohmen or via the Ziegenrückenstraße to Bad Schandau or Rathen.

Road cycling

A great route, challenging, and beautifully situated. Unfortunately, it's almost unbearable in nice weather, especially on weekends, as the route is also very popular with motorcyclists. Although there is a temporary ban on motorcycling, nobody adheres to it (as well as the speed limits and overtaking distances). Therefore, the route is practically a no-go in the conditions mentioned above. A real shame.
