Hiking
rises directly outside the Harz National Park in the Harz Nature Park, about 3.3 km north of Braunlage (about 560 m) and about 3 km west-southwest of Schierke, which is located in the neighboring district of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt. At 971.2 m asl, it is the highest mountain in Lower Saxony.
