The first Romanesque church dates from the 11th century. Renovations took place in 1584 and 1653. The latter was so poorly built that a new building was erected in 1761. Source: egliseinfo.be/lieu/48/olne/saint-sebastien

+++Unfortunately, the church is (as of July '24) only accessible during mass. +++
The church has very rich furnishings, mainly from the eighteenth century (side altars, pulpit, regency confessional, choir stalls, etc.). There is also a Gothic baptismal font from the 16th century and a baptismal font made of black marble from the end of the 17th century.

The surrounding wall contains numerous remains of old graves, one of which bears the emblem of a craftsman and his profession. This is the tombstone of Jacob the Mason. The trowel and scriber are clearly identifiable and carved on the tombstone.

There was already a parish church in Olne in 1010. In that year, the right of patronage was transferred by Emperor Henry II to the Saint Adelbert Chapter in Aachen. The church was rebuilt several times, such as in 1584. Even when the church began to decay after 1646, it was rebuilt in 1653. Only the choir and tower walls of the old church have been preserved. When this church also began to decay, it was rebuilt in 1760-1761, as was the choir. Further restorations took place in 1855-1856 and in 1864. The current building is surrounded by a walled cemetery. The wall is built in limestone blocks and contains a wrought iron entrance gate from 1774. The square built-in west tower is from 1584 and is made from limestone blocks. The classicist nave and choir are built in brick with limestone corner bands and frames. The choir is closed on three sides. The windows are from 1760-1761. The north facade has a monumental entrance portal.

The current church shows the last reconstruction of 1761. But there was already a Romanesque church on the same site from the 11th century.
