The municipalities of Mitterteich, Waldsassen, Wiesau and Konnersreuth have acquired the Fockenfeld estate. The Fockenfeld monastery with the castle and around 100 hectares of land has thus changed owners.
The late vocation school, the smallest high school in Bavaria, closed its doors in July 2020. The Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales then began looking for a new owner for the Fockenfeld estate.
The municipalities have now housed refugees from Ukraine there - guarded by strict security, who are disturbed by hikers walking past on the signposted path.

For 65 years, the St. Joseph's School for Late Vocations in Fockenfeld shaped young men. Around 400 priests and many other professions found the courage and spiritual tools in Fockenfeld to say yes to their very personal calling. This number underlines the importance that this small place has gained for the people of Bavaria and beyond.
