Rüßdorf was first mentioned on October 4, 1209. The Rüßburg was at Rüßdorf. The old castle site of a fleeing castle can still be recognized by its surface shape. It lay on the western high bank of the Elster and was already laid out by the Slavs. In the late Middle Ages, the castle square in front was fortified. Then Rüßdorf was created. The estate that developed in the area mostly belonged to the knightly estate in Waltersdorf. The owners changed to the Poser family, which owned the estate until the expropriation in 1945.
