This is one of the over 300 knight stones of the Palatinate Forest Association.
It stands directly to the right of the Hellerhütte or the Hellerplatzhaus. "Hellerplatz" is derived from "Hellertal"; this valley ends here.
The horseshoe is both the coat of arms of NW-Hambach and the border sign of the Hambach Forest - with 7 nail holes and a toe cap.

The Hellerplatz is located directly at the Neustadter Hut / Heller Hut. Marked by a knight's stone known in the Palatinate. Here you can stop off, rest and take a break. The paths here are all easy to walk on and all have a moderate gradient. The forest paths are less suitable for hikers with prams etc.
