The Dorstadt Monastery is a historic monastery complex in Dorstadt.
The monastery was a foundation of the Saxon noble family von Dorstadt. Arnold von Dorstadt, who had no heir, and who founded the monastery in 1189.
The former administration building (building with ocher / brown paint) is used privately today (as of 15-05-2021) (rental / living space).

There is an old Augustinian monastery in Dorstadt. However, as our local heritage officer Werner Baum explained, this has nothing to do with the so-called "Dorstadt Monastery" from the novel "Pope Joan." In his opinion, the monastery described in the novel is more likely a monastery in southern Germany.

If you are interested in history, a visit to Dorstadt is definitely worthwhile.

The former monastery has since become a manor house. Cultural events are held here regularly.
