The ruins of the villa are still there, protected by fences (it's some constructions and the main villa). It remains an attraction for those who are "in" for past glory and the recent past (and special photos). The park also remains fairly frequented (next to it you will find some typical examples of houses of wealthier people from that time). It is a pity that the municipality allows the fence of the park to deteriorate so much. Now that the second shaft is in full swing, this park could also be integrated, perhaps? In any case, worth the effort.

Only this ruin remains of this beautiful mine director's villa. In the 1980s it was destroyed by a pyromaniac. the beautiful large garden is now a public park.

The spacious director's house was built in 1912 directly in front of the Beringen coal mine. The representative of the French shareholders of the 'SA Charbonnages de Beeringen' lived here. His residence was surrounded by French and English gardens. Black-and-white photos show a closet of a villa that was finished with a turret, winter garden, bay windows and imitation half-timbering. Not much of that remains. In the 1980s, Beringen was in the grip of a pyromaniac for years. He struck dozens of times. He also visited the director's house. It was completely turned to ashes. Since the villa was protected as a village view, it survived in its ruinous state. The overgrown park was cleared and redesigned in 2006, with the ruins of the director's house in the center of it, a silent witness to the splendor of yesteryear.
