    Fontana Park, Chur
With exotic plants, water features and heated greenhouses, it still looked extremely splendid in the 18th century. However, at that time it was a private pleasure garden. The diplomat Peter von Salis-Soglio had this built in 1727 together with his house on Poststrasse, the Old Building. The current name of the park, which was redesigned in 2006, refers to Benedikt Fontana, who met a heroic death in the Battle of Calven in 1499 during the Swabian Wars. The monument by the sculptor Richard Kissling from 1903 is also dedicated to this Graubünden variant of William Tell.

The Fontanapark is a city park and public garden in the heart of the Grisons capital Chur. It is located on Grabenstrasse not far from Postplatz at the western entrance to the old town. The park is named after the Bündner freedom hero Benedikt Fontana, who fell in the Battle of Calven in 1499.
