The Zeldenrust windmill in Dokkum was built in 1862. The windmill is an octagonal scaffolding mill. The function is flour and hulling mill. Owner is the Foundation for Monument Preservation Dongeradeel. The other mill in Dokkum is De Hoop. Both mills are on the strongholds. The Zeldenrust mill is on the west side of the city center, on the Baantjebolwerk, while De Hoop is on the south side, on the Zuiderbolwerk. Both mills are national monuments and can be seen from almost the entire city center of Dokkum.

The Zeldenrust grain and hulling mill in Dokkum is an octagonal tower mill with a flight of 22 metres. Until 1861 the Drie Pijpstermolen stood on this spot, which then burned to the ground.
