The church was originally built around 1200 on a hill in the center of the village. Due to floods, the north side of the village disappeared into the sea and the church lay on the edge of the village on the bank of the shore. The church was largely renovated in 1912. Ship and choir were replaced. The old tower and the west side - a reduced western work - the church were spared. Many of the vaults and arcades of the old church are also preserved.
