Idyllically located hamlet with all kinds of animals and orchards. Small table sale with regional products to take away.

A really idyllic-looking village! Orchard meadows, farms, sheep, chickens, guinea fowl, friendly people and even the house and farm dogs smile at the hiker and don't bark. 😉

The hamlet of Reckenberg lies west of Arzlohe on the Kieselmühlberg plateau with a view of Hohenstadt and can be reached from Pommelsbrunn via Arzlohe as well as via a junction at the entrance to Pommelsbrunn.

        Historical outline

There are several interpretations of the place name, the most likely being that a man named "Richo" or "Recho" settled here. Reckenberg was first mentioned in a document in 1288. An important personality of the 13th century, Ulrich V. von Schlüsselberg, who was wealthy in the area, also owned a farm in "Rekgenberge", which after his death (1288) was taken over by his sons Ulrich VI. and Gottfried I. von Schlüsselberg handed it over as a fief to the "physician magister Albertus phisicus" in Erlangen on October 6, 1288. In 1350, the Reicheneck zu Reckenberg taverns owned the tithe over a hub and several parcels of land. After the family died out in 1411, these properties passed to the Lords of Parsberg. "Regkenperg" is also mentioned in Emperor Charles IV's Salbüchlein from 1366/68, when an Arnold Ratz from the von Ratz knightly family received donations from various places as a usufruct/wage as a member of the guard team at Hartenstein Castle. On August 24, 1418, the wealthy widow Clara Strahlfelserin bequeathed a "Hoff Zum Reckenberg" to her youngest brother. When the region came to the imperial city of Nuremberg at the beginning of the 16th century, the people of Nuremberg also recorded "Reckenperg" in 1525 and wrote "is a guttlein behind the fruemeß Zu Hohenstatt ....". Reckenberg is listed again in “Bommelspronn The Parish Income. 1543”. The topography of the Hersbruck nursing office from around 1550 names two farms. In 1652, Pastor Johann Otnet stated there were 4 apartments, 12 adults and 6 children for the place.

In 1806 Nuremberg and its territory became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria; Reckenberg was assigned to the municipality of Pommelsbrunn. In 1818, 4 properties with 29 residents were registered. In the 1970s, Reckenberg became part of the large community of Pommelsbrunn.
