Best Hikes to Moors in Christenberger Talgrund

Tips

  • The Christenberg valley floor in the southern Hesse Burgwald is characterized by its diverse flora and fauna. The Burgwald is one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Hesse. The landscape of the nature reserve is primarily characterized by its species-rich population of deciduous trees. Extensive wetlands can also be found here. Rare plants such as the medium sundew, the bog lily and the narrow-leaved cottongrass grow here. The moors also provide an important habitat for insects such as dragonflies and spiders, but also for reptiles such as the wood lizard.

  • Beautiful wetland that is part of the Christenberger Talgrund nature reserve. If you bend down and look carefully, you can find the carnivorous sundew there.

  • At the moment it is simply wonderful to walk along the narrow path in the Christenberg valley floor amidst flowering heather and to marvel at the moorland landscapes with their unique vegetation right next to it. The dragonflies, butterflies and birds... fly in these summer temperatures and the peace and quiet is simply wonderful.
