The lung gentian is a highly endangered plant that, with a bit of luck, we can see during the flowering period between June and October on nutrient-poor wet meadows in the Kutenhart Fens. The plant has a height of around 40 cm, sometimes even higher, and has purple flowers.

The Kutenhart Fen area is located on the eastern edge of the Osthertogenwald, roughly halfway between Roetgen and Haus Ternell (Monschauerstraße, Mützenich - Eupen). It can only be reached by slightly longer hikes. For some it's a disadvantage, others see it as an advantage...
Two hiking trails lead through the B zone of this fen landscape coming from the north, west to the Osthertogenwald or south towards Rotenbüchel on the edge of the General Venns.
