In 1891, an army sports facility became the first swimming pool at Plötzensee. The entrance building to the outdoor pool was built between 1926 and 1928 and is a listed building.

The heart of the area surrounding the lake in Wedding is the Plötzensee lido. There is a café in the entrance building.
