To relieve Berlin, the National Socialists wanted to redesign the rail network from 1937. The entire inner ring should be freed from freight traffic and diverted around Berlin. This also included a two-track connection between Dresden and Anhalter Bahn from Zossen via Groß Schulzendorf to Großbeeren. The line was to go into operation in 1940, but was never completed due to the war. Work stopped in 1942. Until then, only a few dams had been built up and the repositories of the bridges built (which can still be seen today). Tracks were never relocated.
